My topic is the effects of World War One
What I already know:
Who- Everybody who lived in a country which played a role in WWI.
What- I dont know.
Where- World War One had an impact in many countries especially those who participated in the war.
When- After World War One.
Why- Because World War One occurred.
How- I dont know.
What I want to know:
Who- Who was effected the most?
What- What were the consequences for the countries who participated in World War One?
Where- Were there any places that WWI didn't at all?
When- What were the actual dates in which the consequences of World War One actually happened?
Why- Why did the effects after WWI take place?
How- How did the consequences of World War One impact the countries it effected?
My research strategy:
Who- I will ask Mr. D for help me locate information. I could also ask librarian at the public library.
What- Google, Expert Websites and my social studies textbook.
Where- At the public library or on my computer at home.
When- I will try to finish most of it during class but if not I will work on it outside of schoo.
How- I will use the infomation I already know to figure out what I need to find to take my notes on.

Draft The effects of World War I influenced most European countries via political, economic and governmental consequences. Many of these political, economic and governmental consequences comprised of border changes, debt, and destruction.
One of the biggest effects of World War 1 was the Treaty of Versailles. When the Treaty of Versailles was announced, the Germans were outraged; they despised the treaty and had no other choice to sign it on June 28, 1919. The Treaty was very harsh on Germany and forced Germany to pay "large sums of money" and sign the humiliating treaty which says Germany is responsible for WWI. Although the size of Germany's army was cut, France's and Italy's were "enlarged" due to the treaty. (Karpilovsky, Suzanne, Maria Fogel, and Olivia Kobelt)
Another major effect of World War One was the change of mood across the world. The mutual good spirit years from before was forgotten and morphed into a very depressing and "pessimistic" one because of the Great War. (Karpilovsky, Suzanne, Maria Fogel, and Olivia Kobelt)
Another effect in the post World War I era was the creation of new countries. Many new countries were formed from the "collapse of old empires." Such as Austria, Hungary, Czechoslovakia, parts of Italy, Poland, Romania, and Yugoslavia. Although many countries gained land Russia and Germany were forced to give some up. Also European countries began to become more socialistic than ever before. Previous to the Great War the European continent had three republics and nineteen monarchies, a few years later there was fourteen republics, thirteen monarchies and two regencies, changing the world forever. In total, World War I cost the fighting countries a "total of about three hundred thirty-seven billion dollars” and nearly 10 million lives.(more death than all the wars 100 years previous.) To pay for this expensive war countries raised some money through taxes, but when that wasn’t enough nations resorted to borrowing money "which created huge debts." (Academic American Encyclopedia)
In Conclusion, many lives were lost and much money wasted but the greatest effect of all was the enraging of the German Empire which would later be a major contributing factor to the unthinkable World War 2.
